Things were great at a conceptual level. But now that I've had the chance to sit down and think about how I might actually pull it off, it doesn't look so easy. Lately I've been thinking about ways to simplify the project..
- shorter episodes and shorter storylines so I've got more time to work on better forms of interactivity
- a simpler illustration style so I don't spend too much time drawing
At the same time I've had some ideas to complicate the project further..
- simulating randomisation at decision points
- using some of the other forms of interactivity that might be covered such as panning using the mouse
- audio?
Here's some different illustrating (and animating) styles that I found interesting. I enjoyed the Simon's Cat series because it was very similar to the style that I originally had in mind.. slightly more detailed than Cyanide&Happiness but not as detailed as Frank Miller's illustrations.
Below is Beached Whale, an animation I included because a) I watched it 50 times and couldn't stop laughing, and b) it used a very different illustrating style to Simon's Cat and looked do-able using Illustrator and Flash.
